Here at SPE Dive School we not only teach you everything needed to enjoy scuba diving safely and responsibly but we provide the equipment you will need to get started. In this section we will go over some of the essential pieces you will need to get started on your scuba adventure.
SCUBA Masks
SCUBA Masks (not goggles!) should be made of high grade silicone, have upgradable lenses & many more features compared to the snorkeling masks.
SCUBA Fins
SCUBA Fins (not flippers!) are substantially larger & more sophisticated, compared to snorkeling fins, since the blade must be capable of providing propulsion for the diver who would typically weigh 60 to 90 pounds more than the snorkeler.
SCUBA Fin Booties
SCUBA Fin-booties are designed to be used with SCUBA-rated fins only & allow for the diver to walk on harsh terrain & provide warmth.
SCUBA-Rated Snorkels
SCUBA-Rated snorkels are not only used for snorkeling, but also always carried by SCUBA divers as a backup, in case of an “out of air” situation at the end of the dive (at the surface).
SCUBA Weight Belts
SCUBA Weight belts allow for the diver to descend, compensating for the buoyancy of the body & the wetsuit. They must be very light, but well-padded & comfortable.
Wetsuits & Thermal Dive-Skins
Wetsuits & Thermal dive-skins keep the diver warm while the long arms & legs prevent from cuts/scratches on coral as well as exposure to jellyfish & poisonous sponges/coral.
SCUBA Cylinders
SCUBA Cylinders (not oxygen tanks!) contain diver’s high-pressured air supply.
SCUBA Regulators
SCUBA Regulators (not respirators!) reduce the cylinder air pressure & allow for the diver to breathe easily & safely.
SCUBA BCD Jackets
SCUBA BCD jackets (Buoyancy Control Device) allow for the diver to wear the cylinder, control the buoyancy at all the depths & provides floatation / life support at the surface.
Rash Guards
Rash guards are typically UV-rated, prevent abrasion & may be worn under the wetsuit.
Dive Watches & Computers
Dive watches & Computers allow for the diver to keep track of the time and / or depth as well as staying within the safe limits of recreation diving.
Underwater Cameras
Underwater Cameras are one of the most popular items among SCUBA divers.
SCUBA Travel Bags
SCUBA Travel bags allow for the diver to fit all SCUBA-related gear as well as some additional personal items.
